Vaux’s Swifts in Los Angeles
Vaux's swifts, on migration, are roosting in downtown Los Angeles! They can be viewed from the top level of the parking structure at 440 Broadway, LA 90013. In the fall and spring, viewing is best the hour before sunset. We don't know how long they will be here, but past history indicates from mid-September to early October in the fall and late April to mid-May in the spring.
If driving, please park below the top level of the parking structure, so that there will be safe viewing from the top level (parking costs $3 on weekdays, $6 weekends). From the Red Line, you can access the parking lot from the Pershing Square Station and walking to Fifth and Broadway.
Join the Los Angeles Audubon Society and the Audubon Center at Debs Park for two viewing parties, Fridays September 23 and 30 (6:00 pm – 7:30 pm).
